2:00 – 3:00 PM Clean up and smudging of the gathering grounds.
2:00 – 5:00 Erection of tent, Elder’s Talking Circle
5:00 – 6:00 Barbeque with Chippewa Traditional Gathering Committee & Volunteers
Saturday, June 25, 2011
12:00 – 1:00 PM Grand Entry and Opening Ceremonies with celebration and songs to honour the flags and Veterans.
1:00 – 3:00 Traditional teachings of the Anishinabe Clan Story, How the Clan System Can Guide Your Life and All Clans Dance – Gerard Sagassige
4:00 – 4:30 Water Teachings – Patricia Shawnoo
5:00 – 7:00 Community Feast where everyone is invited to share a meal that is prepared by the volunteers or donated by people attending the event.
1:00 – 7:00 Songs and dancing to celebrate sharing and acceptance take place throughout the event.
7:00 – 9:00 Co-Ed Sweat Lodge with teachings – located at 9 Thomigo Road/Anishinaabeg Road – 10 Minutes drive to get there
Sunday, June 26, 2011 – National Aboriginal and Canada Day Celebrations
12:00 – 2:00 PM Grand Entry with celebration and songs to honour the flags and Veterans and celebrate National Aboriginal Day.
2:00 – 2:30 Sundance Tradition Teachings – Fort Alex Sundancers
4:00 – 4:30 Water Teachings – Patricia Shawnoo
1:00 – 5:00 Songs and dancing throughout the event to celebrate our heritage, communities and country.
5:00 – 6:30 Community Feast where everyone shares our food followed by a giveaway of a craft gift to all in attendance.
6:30 – 7:30 Closing and thank you songs, veterans lowering of the flags of North America.
